NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that at an election Referendum to be held in the Town of Shields, Dodge County, Ward 1, State of Wisconsin on November 3, 2020, will be submitted to a vote of the people:
ORDINANCE NO. 2020-01
Combining Clerk-Treasurer by Appointment
The Town Board of the Town of Shields, Dodge County,
Wisconsin, does hereby ordain as follows:
That, pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 60.30(1e)(a), the office of the combined office of town clerk and town treasurer shall be filled by appointment of a majority of the members-elect of the town board. The term of the office for the appointment position shall be by the town board, but may not exceed 3 years per § 60.30(1e)(C). The town board may re-appoint the office for additional terms. However, removal by the town board during a given term of office may only be for “cause” as defined under §17.00 and required by § 60.30(le)(f).
The question will appear on the ballot as follows:
“Shall the person holding the office of Combined Town Clerk – Treasurer in the Town of Shields Be appointed by the Town Board”
EXPLANATION
“Yes” means the Town of Shields Board may appoint a Town Clerk-Treasurer
“No” means the Town of Shields Board may NOT appoint a Town Clerk-Treasurer
